#473 closed bug (worksforme)

Using the scan a document does not capture double sided/multiple scans

Reported by: prcua Owned by: PRCUA
Priority: minor Milestone:
Component: Core Version: 7.1.1
Keywords: Cc:

Description

Using an Epson GT-S80 document scanner. I am using the Epson scanning interface to scan a document. If I set the scanner application to scan double sided, only one page is brought into the logicaldoc scan application. If I scan in two physical pages, with the scanner set to still capture double sided, the first page is captures correctly double sided, but the second physical page is not presented to the logicaldoc scan application. It is like the last page is never presented into the logicaldoc application. If I do the same scanning process into a product like Adobe Acrobat, all pages are captured correctly into Acrobat. Using the most recent release of the Epson software available.

There is no problem in acquiring multipage scans, but you have to know that the scan feature of LogicalDOC is implemented through a Java applet. By default only can use 64MB. Probably you need to increase the assigned memory in order to handle more than one image. Of course the number of images you can handle also depends on the resolution and color depth of each image.
Please assign at least 512MB(parameter -Xmx512m) to the applets: https://www.duckware.com/pmvr/howtoincreaseappletmemory.html

Hello,

I added -Xmx512m as suggested, but this did not change the issue.

The Java applet does appear to capture a multiple page scan, but the applet is always dropping the last page in the scanned pages. In other words, if I scan a single physical paper, double sided, with the scanner software set to capture double sided, only side one is shown in the applet. If I scan two papers, double sided, the first paper is captured (both sides), but the last paper is only transferring one side. So, with two papers scanned, double sided, three pages is displayed in the applet. I have set the scanner software to send all pages and not drop blank pages.

We are really sorry, but we double checked and used scanners with sheet feeder like a n HP multifunctional printer and the Fujitsu ScanSnap?. In all the cases the scan applet acquired all the sheets without a problem. Perhaps the behaviour you are experiencing can depends on some settings in the driver configuration of your scanner but this would be outside our domain.
